First hand account from SHTF in Iceland
I found a blogger in Iceland who is giving firsthand insights to what he's going through as his country goes through extremely hard times. Just a few years ago they seemed to be on the fast track to become the shining example of what a socialist country with the means to become energy independent could aspire to. They were on the verge of having the means to manage all of their own affairs while being beholden to no one. Now we're seeing exactly why socialism can never work. No matter what goes on inside of your own country you still have the rest of the world to deal with. If you're not prepared to deal with the fact that someone, somewhere can find a way to take advantage of you or your leaders then you're either destined to failure or you truly have nothing that benefits anyone. It's unfortunate that this guy has to live with the horrible choices that his leaders made but at least we can perhaps glean some useful insight from him for as long as he decides (or is allowed) to post. Go check him out at this link. You can also find it under my "links to live by in "Iceland Survival".

After all, just look at the example of Canada, Australia, Japan, the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Spain, or Portugal.
Economic catastrophes, every last one of them, right?
Hmmm... Here's a link for ya about Iceland.

Iceland, at least according to that mouthpiece of socialist propaganda, the Financial Times, has had it's economy destroyed not by 'socialism' but by a concerted effort by American currency speculators, mostly from Bear Stearns.
Maybe instead of blaming the situation on your vulgar, simplistic, understanding of socialism, you could actually, um, do some research? Or at least spend 5 minutes with google?
SHTF in China as well...
why isn't this happening here yet? seriously? not that I want it to but I'm just wondering why Middle America is for the most part, so complacent about the recent state of affairs?
All you have to do is look at policies here is the States that have been around for awhile to see that it doesn't work..... Have Food stamps wiped out hunger? Has Welfare gotten rid of poverty? Or have programs like that only made the problem worse?
thankfully, i can't afford a docktor or pills, so i take care of myself and still have my health.
well you folk can argue all you want over socialism vs. capitalism and republicans vs. democrats.
"I'm just wondering why Middle America is for the most part, so complacent about the recent state of affairs?"
Ha! between the floride in the water, and all that prozac and ritalin Big Pharma has been serving up... people don't know anything else but "feel good", and choosing between McDrek's/ Pizza Hut or China Mart/ the Mall....
trouble...
more trouble...
would building a bunker help?
capitalism has been failing pretty well for the last couple hundred years. if slavery, two world wars and two atomic bombs aren't convincing enough, maybe the world's economy over the next decade will be.
should we be worried about this?
our gov. sure doesn't seem to be!?
