The bug bit me hard

I found a guy with a 71 Honda CL-175 that he's had in his barn for years. He sold it to me cheap and even delivered it. This is probably going to be a rat project. These things get around 70-80 mpg and they're pretty easy to work on yourself so I figure that this will make a good scoot to putt around town in. It also looks a lot cooler than a scooter. It's going to take some work to get it running again but I don't expect it to cost more than a few hundred bucks. If I can get it running good and reliable for under a grand then I will be ecstatic.

Good find! This is, or almost is, a classic by now. Will it run on unleaded?

Yeah it just uses regular unleaded. It should get about 70-80 mpg and, being so lightweight, should handle pretty well offroad. Hopefully I'll be able to get it started tonight. I just need to wait for the gas tank to finish cleaning.

Flat black is too common :p. I was thinking about painting it digital camo or something like that if I decide not to sell it.

I'd keep it if I were you and didn't need the extra money. Its small and light enough to fit in the back of a truck / station wagon with room to spare. Be fairly easy to transport to your BO location, then drive around on it, saving your gas for your car. Only consideration - noise - it pretty loud? 4 stroke or 2?

It's a 4 stroke. It's pretty quiet. If I was in the middle of nowhere and there was absolutely no other sound then you'd probably be able to hear it from a ways off but here in the city you probably wouldn't be able to hear it from much more than a block away. It's a lot more quiet than my Virago.
